The Seer 02:43
I can see the storm Now you’ve been duly warned Don’t you take it out on me I’m just the one that sees I wish I could make you change Break it all down in parts and start again I can see the damage done It’s not a war it can’t be won Why you take it out on me I’m just the one that sees I wish I could make you change Break it all down in parts and start again Have you thought about what you’ve done Made it hard for everyone Don’t you take it out on me I’m just the one that sees I wish I could make you change Break it all down in parts and start again

Lighten Up 03:43
Get up Everybody get up and say I’m not gonna be violence Get up Get up and say I’m not gonna do you no harm Not gonna do no harm I know it’s just a dream But it’s not as hard as it seems Get up We gotta lighten up the world just a little bit And do nobody no harm And do no harm I know it’s just a dream But it’s not as hard as it seems If everybody said it If everybody said it now Then nobody would do nobody no harm We gotta lighten up the world just a little bit Just a little bit And do nobody no harm And do no harm I know it’s just a dream But it’s not as hard as it seems

Bigger and better, better than you Gonna make this thing so damn huge Bigger than you better than me Gonna be the future just you wait and see now Got a vision and a great big plan Got all the people in my hand Gonna be so big cover the sky Close your eyes it’s gonna be a surprise Not a sell Don’t take it from me you gotta try it for yourself Bigger and better Give me a minute and I’ll tell you all the features Give me a goal and I’ll show you how to reach it Well you don’t know what you want till I tell you what you need You don’t know what you need till I tell you what you want Not a sell Don’t take it from me you gotta try it for yourself Bigger and better Here it is in the flesh Now you see it I bet you’re impressed When I make it I’ll send you a letter If you don’t buy one now then I hope you don’t regret it Not a sell Don’t take it from me you gotta try it for yourself Bigger and better

Stepp'n Out 04:32
It’s 3am there’s too much noise in my head I think I’ll go down to Cleveland Road and get myself some Lebanese food They’ve got coffee there that makes your hair stand on end Well if I’m gonna be awake I might as well be awake all night I’m stepp’n out tonight Gonna get something a little right You know I love these dives But I’m gonna get myself a life and I’m gonna feel so good My face is a skid mark on a shimmering street I’m looking down to see if I’m an obvious thing I walk in the door and I shake my coat out And I order the hottest thing they can make I’m stepp’n out tonight Gonna get something a little right You know I love these dives But I’m gonna get myself a life and I’m gonna feel so good A couple staggers in the door with icy wind and resignation in their eyes He stands up but she falls down I guess the drugs are having all the fun tonight I catch myself watching stupidly with my back against the wall I change my gaze I’m stepp’n out tonight Gonna get something a little right You know I love these dives But I’m gonna get myself a life and I’m gonna feel so good

Stay out all night And wake up fresh like you just been born Wreck yourself on something yeah you’re smashed but you get up laughing And do it again Sounds simplistic I know but wouldn’t it be more fun Got to have more fun Just like life without pain See two lovers breaking up And everybody walks away smiling Screw up on the job and look at the boss and say It’s all my fault well what ya gonna do Sounds simplistic I know but wouldn’t it be more fun Got to have more fun Just like life without pain You know I don’t believe it But sometimes I live just like that Yeah sure life is pain sometimes but that’s all you’re seeing right now Got to let go let it go now Sounds simplistic I know but wouldn’t it be more fun Got to have more fun Just like life without pain

about

You don't want to waste your time waiting around for musos to get their shit together, now you don't have to. Get it, Cheap Fast, the best in songwriting straight into your ears.

Cheap fast, that’s what everyone wants. An eclectic adventure all mashed into an EP. You can hear the whole thing fast and then you'll want to hear it again, and again.

Oh, and as we musos are coerced into giving our music away, it’s certainly cheap.

Cheap Fast was recorded using the classic old school recording technique of getting the band in one room in front of a microphone and pressing the record button and then combining this with the utility of modern multi tracking. The result is the magic of musical performance captured, brought to life and all wrapped up in a really nice sound.

Money Killed Jonny is the essence of hand made music after all the flashy effects have worn off. It is a sound that is as fresh as it is timeless, complex as it is minimalist, lush as it is raw, organic as richly composted soil, and as real as you can get.

Weaving together the rhythmic beats of Latin, the raw energy of rock, the infectious catchiness of pop, with the soulful depth of blues and the improvisational spirit of jazz, Money Killed Jonny transcends traditional genre boundaries in an exploration of the world of music and sound.

The driving force behind the ensemble is Steven Robinson. A prolific singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, but also a storyteller whose poignant lyrics delve into the human condition and critique the craziness of it all in profound and often playful ways.

Alongside him are the equally accomplished Rob Laurie on drums, ukulele, and backup vocals, and Tim Ritchie on bass. Together, these versatile artisans bring a wealth of experience to Money Killed Jonny, taking listeners on a musical adventure with the groove-infused bass lines created by Tim Ritchie and the infectious beats of Rob Laurie's drums.
